About this location
Four programs. One campus. The most innovation BG has put into any single location.
In 2004, Kenya’s child protection services reported 15,000 children in need along the Malindi coast — largely orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. BG responded within twelve months, building a school and residential shelter simultaneously.
Today the Malindi campus runs four programs at once. The Lighthouse Village — 14 homes where working couples take in BG children as full family members — is the most innovative program BG has ever built, now being studied by NGOs across Kenya.
The school was renovated in 2017 and now serves 300+ students. The shelter cares for approximately 30 residential children. The outreach program visits vulnerable families every two weeks.
A sponsorship at BG Malindi costs €40/month — school fees, three daily meals, healthcare, accommodation, and social worker support.
